Design is a P R O C E S S. & sneak preview of new items

Design is a P R O C E S S.  This is something I am learning every day with owning my own home and retail shop.  We tend to have an impatient attitude when it comes to decorating a space… well at least I do! I want to “pick” [antiquing] and retail shop for a room I am decorating all in one day and have it complete.  However, I am learning that this is not the best idea.  I tried this with our master bedroom and I have already changed the bedding in just 4 short months.  At first I felt guilty, but this is what helped me come to the understanding that designing can evolve and that is the freedom of small home details.  It doesn’t cost a fortune to give a room a totally new look [way cheaper than a new house, right?!] by simply changing some pillows, throws, and decor items.

As we near the renovation of a new home I am really hoping to apply this idea. In our current home we were so excited about decorating, so we went to Lowes and Home Depot and purchased all the tile at one time making do with whatever they had on hand. So with this new house, that is if ours sells, I am hoping to take the time and truly search out what I have planned for the home and not to settle because its the quickest option.

I tell you all of this just to remind you that its okay if your house or space is already decorated, its still okay to change it up! Your home is suppose to be your happy place, where you are the most comfortable and happy.  Make that space a reflection of your personality.  Make it you!  Don’t worry if it is “Pinterest perfect” [a later blog for that subject] make it your kind of perfect.

If you decide your home needs some new touches or to bring it to your dream home we have some beautiful furniture, dried goods, home decor, and even a few dishes on order that are scheduled to arrive in 2 to 3 weeks, so come check them out!  If you feel stuck with your design we also offer in home consultations.

This is it.

As of today, I firmly believe I have found my calling. And might I add it has been right in front of me for 21 years now. God finally opened my eyes for my passion to carry on the family business. Jared and I are now proud to say we are the new owners of Lawrenceburg Florist & Gifts. Over my journey to this point in life I took that special business for granted, but now I can clearly see how wonderful it is. Being able to say I am the 3rd generation for that business brings so much excitement.

With all of this being said, I also now believe I have found my purpose for This is now my outlet to connect with anyone possible about our 70 year old florist. In addition to the traditions that the business is founded upon I hope to bring a new generation of customers and life to the florist. I plan to share the beauty of flowers and the pure joy they can bring to people’s day, as well as offer special deals on featured items, and a bridge to future online shopping along with many more ideas here on bydanielle! Prayer, it’s a beautiful thing!

In our busy life I have found that it is easy to dismiss my need for prayer time with the Lord, but today I have realized what I am missing out on. Today I pray I find dedication in talking with God all day long & not just five minutes before I fall asleep.

This morning I found a devotional message that lead me to this conclusion. We often find ourselves getting frustrated that God is not answering our prayers, but I thought to myself: is He really not answering them or is He answering them His way and not my own. Boy have I already learned how his answers are far better that my original plans. If this doesn’t seem like your case, I have another one for you.

Have you ever just felt like there is a big “Great Wall of China” built between you and God when you are trying to talk with Him? This is where my devotional message really comes in. It shares that God cannot be close with sin; therefore, if we have sin in our life that we have not confessed to and repeat continuously, God is not going to be able to listen to your prayer (compared to if you are open and confess to Him.) No matter how big you think you have messed up He is always willing to forgive and listen to you, but you have to make the step of admitting you are wrong. A relationship with God is so worth it!

Did you know that un-confessed sin could keep God from hearing your prayers? It’s not that He doesn’t want to hear us; it’s just that God, in His perfect holiness, cannot come near to sin. The sin must first be removed.

David prayed in Psalm 66:18, “If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” In other words, if we practice sin habitually without repentance, God will not hear us. Of all the promises for answered prayer, here’s a promise for God not to answer prayer.

Sin is serious business to God, and therefore should be serious business to us. If there’s anything clogging the channel of prayer in our lives then we need to come to the Lord, confess our sins, and receive forgiveness. Throughout Scripture, sin is described as a disease that produces spiritual death. It is no wonder, then, that the psalmist cried out, “Wash me thoroughly God!” When we are honest about our own sinfulness, we will crave God’s cleansing ways.

There may be some of you who are thinking, “I would be an absolute hypocrite to pray. I’ve gone too far and done too much to receive forgiveness.” Let me remind you that there is rejoicing in heaven when one sinner repents. We can forever come to the Father because of what Christ has done for us. We have been changed and cleansed and set on the path of everlasting communion with God.

It’s time to quit beating yourself down and get away from your guilt. Make today the day to repent of your sin and respond to the forgiveness made possible through Christ. Today, ask God to search your heart and reveal any sin that may be a barrier between your prayers and Him.

S E A G R O V E, N C

Every Thanksgiving my new family [the Hardisons] take a weekend getaway to North Carolina to visit family.  This trip is one of a kind that I look forward to every year.  We take a step out of our every day life and enjoy a weekend on Fox Farm.  Every day is relaxing filled with lots of food and naps in a cabin from the 1800s that they turned into a family home.  But don’t be fooled, we don’t just get fat on the trip, we have activities to fill the rest of the day.  This year we took a family fishing trip to the pond, the men chopped wood, I helped restore an old table and glaze a door, and I got crafty and made a basket.

There is one activity that has become a tradition that is my personal favorite.  We take a girls trip driving about two hours to Seagrove, North Carolina.  This is a small town that has become a sweet little pottery community. This year was even better than the past because we had the opportunity to see 3 potters actually creating master pieces on the potter’s wheel.  This made my appreciation for the art soar.  I now feel the need to purchase clay, a wheel, and an oven.

Oh how I saw your talent Lord! “Yet you, Lord, are our Father.  We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” -Isaiah 64:8 NIV

The experience actually reminds me of the local Amish community in Ethridge, TN, except its not.  There are larger co-op shops like the one featured that displays and sells pottery, but we like to drive through the community and visit the potter’s studios and galleries to purchase directly.  Sadly the pictures never depict the experience like being there in person, but hopefully this will do.

The Beginning.

Okay so lets just be honest.  Trying to decide what to do with yourself after college might just be the hardest thing to do, like ever.  Whether you are deciding on a major or actually planning your career post college graduation, the decision isn’t easy.  I have been so excited to use my “special gift” that God gives to us all to shine his light on earth, but I’ve ran into a problem — What is my gift?! I feel like this is something we all go through at some point in our life, and we just have to trust in Him to reveal it to us.

As a part of this journey I am slowly learning that it is okay to say that we are good at something.  After this realization, I understand I have a gift to plan stressful events & I am 100% all about house decorating.  I would love to be my own version of Fixer Upper featuring Danielle and Jared.  The next step is now to decide what I need to do with those gifts.  I initially began this website/blog to be the start of my business [whatever that might be], but for now, until I have myself figured out, I am just going to share.  I might share a message God has placed on my heart, something random I see beauty in on the Earth, party planning tips, or design inspiration.  I cannot wait to see what this website becomes over time when I reach that “this is it” moment.

Words for the weary:

“You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.  You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3: 23-24
